FAQ
Questions we get asked.
Answers to what Mallorca business owners ask us most — about websites, Google visibility, costs, and what it is like to work with us.
Google & Getting Found Online
- It depends what you mean by showing up. A Google Business Profile (GBP) can appear in Google Maps results within days of verifying your listing, sometimes sooner for low-competition searches. Organic search results — the blue links below the map — take longer: typically three to six months for a new website to appear for relevant searches, and longer for competitive terms. There is no fixed timeline. Google needs to find your site, understand what it is about, and decide it is trustworthy enough to show. That process is faster if your site is well-structured, your GBP is complete, and you are publishing content that matches what people are actually searching for.
- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) means making your website and Google Business Profile easy for Google to find, understand, and trust — so you appear when someone searches for what you do. Whether you need it depends on how you get customers. If most of your business comes from word of mouth or social media, SEO may not be urgent. If you want new customers who are searching for your type of business online, then yes, you need it. Even a small amount of SEO work done properly on a new site or GBP puts you ahead of most local competitors who have not touched theirs in years.
- A Google Business Profile (GBP) is a free listing that appears when someone searches your business name or searches for your type of business in your area. It shows your name, photos, hours, phone number, reviews, and a link to your website. It is separate from your website — you can have a GBP without a website, and a website without a GBP. But they work best together. For Mallorca businesses especially, the map results at the top of local searches are driven almost entirely by GBP signals, not your website.
- Ask for them. Most businesses never ask, and reviews rarely happen spontaneously. The simplest approach: after every job, booking, or purchase, send a short message or email thanking the customer and including a direct link to your Google review page. You can generate a direct review link from your GBP dashboard under Get more reviews. Add it to your email signature, WhatsApp messages after completed jobs, and any booking confirmations. Ask within 24 to 48 hours of a positive interaction, while the experience is fresh. Do not pre-screen by asking if someone is happy first — this is against Google guidelines. Just ask for the review directly.
- Your GBP gets you visible on Maps. A website does something different: it gives people a reason to choose you once they have found you. When someone sees your GBP and wants to know more — what you charge, what your work looks like, whether you seem like the right fit — they click through to your website. If there is no website, or the site is hard to read on a phone, or it does not make the next step obvious, you lose them. A GBP without a website is like having a shop sign but no window.
- Social media and SEO reach different people at different moments. Someone scrolling Instagram has not decided they want your product yet. Someone searching Google has. That search intent is much closer to a purchase. Social media is useful for brand awareness and staying in mind. SEO captures demand that already exists — people who are actively looking for what you do, right now. For most Mallorca businesses, the highest-converting new enquiries come from search, not social.
- Selectively, depending on studio capacity - we're not built to run marketing retainers full-time. The audit and setup get your site and GBP right once; if you want it managed monthly after that, we'll either take it on directly or hand the findings to a trusted SEO partner so nothing sits unfixed.
Websites and Web Design
- Our website projects start at €2,750 for a marketing or brochure site of up to five pages. Larger sites with a content management system (CMS), booking forms, or e-commerce start higher. Full pricing is on the services page. The more useful question is what a website costs versus what it earns. A site that generates one extra enquiry per week, at an average job value of €500, pays for itself in weeks. A cheaper site that does not convert, or that breaks and gets abandoned, costs more in missed opportunity than the saving on the build.
- Most of our projects take two to four weeks from brief to launch. Simpler sites — up to five pages, no CMS — can be live in two weeks. Sites with booking systems, multiple service areas, or complex content take three to four weeks. The timeline depends heavily on how quickly content is ready. If you have copy and photos ready to go, the build moves fast. If you need to write content from scratch or gather images, that is usually the longest part of the process.
- At minimum: a clear idea of what the site needs to do, the services or products you want to feature, and access to any existing brand assets such as your logo and colour palette. We ask for a brief at the start of the project covering your business, your customers, and the goal of the site. Content — the words that go on each page — is the part most people underestimate. Photos of your actual business, products, or work are always better than stock images. We can advise on what to photograph.
- It depends on the tier. Our entry-level site (The Mark) is built for performance and delivered as a fixed-structure site — content is set at handover, which keeps it fast and maintenance-free. There is no CMS to log in to, nothing to update or break. From The Site tier upwards, we build with a CMS that lets you edit content, add pages, and update information without touching code. We also offer a monthly retainer (The Standing Order) if you want ongoing development without managing it yourself.
- No. Every site is hand-coded from scratch on a modern stack - Next.js and TypeScript. No page builders, no themes, no plugin dependencies. The code is written for your site specifically, not borrowed from a library.
AI, Ownership & What Happens Next
- No. AI speeds up how fast we write code - it does not template the output. Every site is still hand-coded from scratch on a modern stack, no page builders, no themes, no plugin dependencies. AI is a tool we use to build faster; it does not decide what your site looks like or how it is structured - that is still worked out project by project, same as it always was.
- Yes. Every project is delivered with 100% site ownership - clean code, standard hosting, full handover, with zero proprietary lock-in. There is nothing that only we can touch: no proprietary platform, no vendor lock-in, no dependency on us staying involved for the site to keep working.
- Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront before work starts - no hourly runaway, no surprise invoices. If you want ongoing changes after launch, that is a separate, optional arrangement you choose, not something built into the project by default - there is no retainer lock-in required to keep your site running.
Working With Us
- Yes. We work with restaurants, hotels, villas, tour operators, shops, and professional service businesses in Mallorca, alongside clients across the UK and the rest of Europe. Everything runs the same way wherever you are: video calls, email, and a website and search presence built around how your actual customers search.
- We are a remote-first studio working with clients across the UK, Europe, and Mallorca. All of our work is done remotely — we do not need to visit your premises to build your website or optimise your Google presence. We work over video calls, email, and WhatsApp, whichever suits you.
- We work in English primarily. Our written work — copy, proposals, reports — is in English. If you are more comfortable communicating in Spanish, we can handle WhatsApp and email in Spanish. We do not currently offer Spanish-language website copywriting as a standard service, but we can work with Spanish content you provide or refer you to a translator for multilingual sites.
- Yes. Visibility for hospitality businesses typically comes from two places: your Google Business Profile (which puts you on Maps) and organic search results (which come from your website). We work on both. For GBP, we cover optimisation as part of the Growth Audit — checking your categories, photo volume, review situation, and the fields most businesses overlook. For organic search, a well-built website with the right structure and content will start appearing for relevant searches within a few months of launch.
- We are a small studio, not an agency. You work directly with the person building your site — there is no account manager in the middle, no handoffs between teams, no templates. Every site is written from scratch for your specific business. We also do not take on every project. We work with businesses that want a site that performs — generates enquiries, loads fast, works on mobile, ranks in search — not just a site that looks good in a presentation.
- Yes - most of our clients are based remotely. We work in English across UK and European time zones and have built sites for clients in the UK, across Europe, and in Mallorca. Wherever you are, the process is the same.
